GRANDMA AND GRANDPA COME TO TOWN

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit me! And I pulled all the stops to bring nice, sunny weather here for them.

First, we walked the streets of Lake Oswego to go to our favorite French bakery and Grandma’s favorite florist.

Then we drove all the way up to Vancouver, WA and got to see airplanes at Pearson Field.

After, we headed to an ice cream place. Grandma and I didn’t get any, so it was my opportunity to chat with her about decaf coffee.

Vancouver has so many outdoor murals.

I really wanted to see the Vancouver Land Bridge (another pedestrian bridge to check off the list). But we had to walk pretty far from Fort Vancouver to see it.

We were really close to Pearson Field, so there was some good airplane spotting.

I don’t remember what I was talking about here, but you can bet it was pretty good.

And then Daddy tried to put me in a cannon. It was a good day!

THE RAINS

The rain was bonkers all day, so we stayed indoors as much as possible. Our first stop was an arcade named QuarterWorld, where I was planning to meet two local kids named Fern and Max. But the arcade was too loud for my taste, so I elected to sit and draw instead. (It’s a good thing I always remind Mommy to bring my paper and pens!)

Then we had lunch next door at Apizza Scholls – and they had arcade games, too! (But it was much quieter, so I liked it.) I was a total natural at Pole Position.

Finally, I kept watch while Chris and Daddy did some music shopping at Exiled Records.

Before we headed home, though, we found this treasure! A long, long, time ago…horses were tethered to these little metal rings on the sides of the street. These days, you can sometimes find a tiny toy horse attached instead. We found one of their dinosaur friends!

POST-BIRTHDAY

For the day after my birthday, I requested we drive to the airport on the roads of my choosing. We drove all around Portland, including two bridges!

Then, as usual, we parked at the top of the parking structure to get the best view.

Finally, we headed into the terminal to watch cars drive on Airport Way and to run back and forth on the moving walkways. Now I’m already planning out my next birthday!

THE BIG FIVE

I’m five!!! My birthday wish was to stay home all day in my pajamas. And it was fulfilled.

One of my gifts was a stroller for Hugs!

Hugs just loves doing stunts and riding over rough terrain.

After dinner, I had my choice of cupcakes and mini cheesecakes and Daddy helped me blow out the candles.

CHRISTMAS EVE 2017

We headed up to Kenji’s house on Christmas Eve. The first order of business was to check out the presents.

Then I joined the boys in watching something riveting on TV. (I think it was either “The Polar Express” or “The Smurfs,” and in both cases, I had no idea what was going on.)

Chubs liked watching us eat dinner.

After Uncle Ryan’s delicious dinner (the soba was my favorite!), I did some drawing.

Meanwhile, Kenji wondered if his Uncle Eric actually tied poop bags around his arms.

Later, while the grown-ups were busy, I did a little babysitting until it was time to go to bed before Christmas.

HANUKKAH FINALE

Tonight was the grand finale of Hanukkah 2017. Here’s a rundown of the last few nights:

For night 4, Grandma and Grandpa got me a floor puzzle of the United States and I immediately make sure Oregon is there, safe and sound.

I’ve been kind of obsessed with babies lately, especially baby girls. So for night 5, Mommy and Daddy got me a doll, who I immediately named Hugs (she’s the baby girl who lives on Mommies). I take really good care of her.

On night 6, I got another airplane of an airline I don’t have yet – Allegiant!

On night 7, I got a jumbo road atlas. I already have a four-month road trip planned out that I informed Mommy and Daddy I want to take when I’m 5 years old, almost 6.

On night 8, it was time to set the firetruck menorah ablaze! I also got an indoor trampoline to help me get rid of the excess energy I have these days. Daddy and I are going to set it up tomorrow. Thank you again, Grandma and Grandpa, for the great gifts!

HANUKKAH 2017

Hanukkah is upon us, y’all!

Check out this super cool Cessna airplane toy I got on the first night.

Last night, I got a really neat atlas with fun facts about the 50 American states (did you know there’s a vacuum museum in Portland???) and, most importantly – MAPS!

Then tonight, I got two more airplane toys (Alaska Airlines and WestJet!), proving you can never have too many airplane toys.

Thanks for the fun gifts, Grandma and Grandpa!
