MOTHER’S DAY 2020

It was Teacher Appreciation Week and my school made a video to show the teachers at their virtual staff meeting. This is my picture that went in the video!
I also continued with virtual school, of course. One of my math assignments was to make several equations that equal the number 18. We were told to use objects, like rocks or marbles, to help us. My object was drawings of amusement parks!
And we did a lot of walking…
The deck garden is coming along nicely.
And I participated in my first birthday parade. Happy 9th birthday, Phoenix! We, and a bunch of other people, drove past his house, honking our horns and waving.
All of the days are really starting to feel the same now.
Chalk drawing is getting kind of boring.
But I’ve really been liking my Hot Wheels track.
I finished my third week of virtual school.
Here’s a letter I wrote to Mrs. Flagg and Mrs. Stecher explaining why I like the color pink.
We also went on our daily walks to get closer to my goal of 40 miles. I’m almost to 10 miles now.
While walking, I gathered some leaves and flowers to make nature impressions. This is the salt dough.
Then I pressed the leaves and flowers into the dough and baked it. Here are some that I colored, as well.
We also found some painted rocks on one of our walks.
I invented a dessert called Ellamix. Here’s the recipe: Get two molasses cookies, put some strawberries and blueberries between them, and microwave until warm.
We also pulled out the bread machine Grandma and Grandpa got us a while ago. I didn’t like it very much, but Mommy and Daddy did. I’m more excited about the pizza dough we’re going to make next!
The early part of the week was sunny and warm, so we took walks along the path by our house.
We came across this cool little creation someone made.
One of my favorite flowers is the dandelion!
I love taking their seeds and planting them nearby.
Actually, the whole town is in bloom right now.
By mid-week, it was cold and damp, so I played inside on my homemade roller coaster.
And did some windowsill reading.
But I eventually went out again and made some chalk drawings.
Puzzle update: We did it! We finished!
Okay…two pieces are missing. We got 99.8% of the way there, though. Not bad, huh?
Corn cob update: It’s taking over.
For this year’s stay-at-home-Easter, I colored some eggs!
(I actually stay home and do this every Easter, because Sundays are lazy days, coronavirus or not.)
I also had an in-the-house Easter egg hunt. (Again, it was inside the house because that is just my personal preference, coronavirus or not.)
Here, I found one in the windowsill succulent garden.
Each egg had a picture of a roller coaster inside!
I found ’em all!
Here we are, another week at home, with no end in sight. So we played some music…
…and just kinda collapsed on stuff.
I also practiced skateboarding in the kitchen.
The neighbors probably got used to seeing me make the mail run in my pajamas.
Another day, another pair of pajamas.
I drew lots and lots of pictures.
Daddy and I drew amusement parks together and made tons of them in the last week. I’ll post my favorites some day.
I also liked to climb on things.
Garden update: We thought all of our snap pea babies died in the snow, but one little guy prevailed!
We also soaked this dried up corn cob we got from a friend a couple years ago. It began to sprout, so we’ll put that in the deck container garden next week.
We finished our third full week of being housebound. I told Mommy, “it feels like we’re under house arrest.”
As usual, working on my many Planet Coaster parks was a top priority.
I also rode rides at my in-home amusement park.
Our potato sprouted!
We chopped it in half and put it in that pot of dirt.
We continued to make progress on our puzzle. It’s only fitting that it’s actually a Christmas puzzle, because that’s probably when it will be finished.
I drew, colored, and named birds.
Daddy and I drew a whole bunch of amusement parks.
And we saw a pretty rainbow outside our window at sunset. What will next week bring???
This week, we were ordered to stay home ALL THE TIME. (Except to go get food. That’s Daddy’s job.)
Grandma and Grandpa sent me this book about Curious George and a roller coaster. Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa!
We did a lot of staring out the window. But if you look out long enough, you get to see…
…DINOSAURS!
I made a lot of LEGO roller coaster cars and demonstrated the layout of their imaginary track.
I loved drawing and naming cats with this fun drawing sheet.
Here’s this week’s puzzle update. I found a lot of pieces!
I got my LEGO Life magazine in the mail at the perfect time.
And Nana and Papa sent me a comic book drawing kit. Thank you, Nana and Papa!
We were going to start our deck garden, but can’t go get any seeds or plants. So we’re improvising. This is an organic potato and we set it on the windowsill to sprout. Updates coming next week…
School was ordered to close last week and won’t be opening back up for a while. Lucky for me, I was made for social distancing.
A few days before spring, we had a second day of fresh snow.
My most important order of business has been working on my amusement parks in Planet Coaster.
Mommy has a jigsaw puzzle she started working on. I’m helping out when I can.
I also made a constellation tube. This one is Leo.
This is what I see when I look inside.
I did an experiment where I drew a design with lemon juice and let it dry so it was invisible.
Then we warmed it up over the stove and – voila! – my design appeared.
We go outside everyday to check the mail…
…and run back down the hill to seclusion once again.
On this Friday the 13th, we welcomed school closures due to coronavirus, plus a little snow to make it even weirder.
